KakoGuide found that OOTDBuy pays creators ¥100 per TikTok post that reaches set engagement thresholds. Paid promotion is normal marketing — AliExpress pays affiliates too — but it changes how to read what you see. A haul video about OOTDBuy may be sincere, and it may be an ad; unless it's labelled, you can't tell.

The practical response is to separate the product from the agent. If a video shows an item you like, find the original listing (the link converter pulls it out of an agent link) and price it at two or three agents, or look for a similar item on AliExpress. If OOTDBuy still comes out best, you'll have chosen it on price rather than on a post.

Verdict: Treat unlabelled OOTDBuy videos as ads. Choose the item from the video, and the agent from evidence.

Who is behind OOTDBuy?

A UK company registered after launch, with no filings, is what KakoGuide calls a shell: it gives the business a UK address without telling you who runs it. Trustpilot shows a US phone number and a marketing email. None of this proves wrongdoing. It does mean there's little to hold on to if an order goes wrong.

Lookalike domains and missing weights

KakoGuide lists two more practical risks. First, a swarm of lookalike domains around the OOTDBuy name, which is a phishing risk: type ootdbuy.com yourself and never sign in elsewhere. Second, an almost non-existent Reddit footprint and absence from JadeShip's directory, which leaves few independent reports to check against.

'How to check weight of shoes on OOTDBuy' and similar searches suggest buyers want weights before shipping, as they should. Ask for the item and parcel weight in writing before paying any shipping, and compare with the calculator.

OOTDBuy or AliExpress?

Verdict: If the item exists on AliExpress, buy it there. If it doesn't, a green agent with a longer record is the safer route than OOTDBuy for now.

If you like OOTDBuy's promise — cheap shipping, a wide catalogue — but not its paperwork, there are agents that publish more. How to spot a paid agent promotion

Paid posts aren't limited to OOTDBuy; several agents run creator programmes, and AliExpress runs one of the largest affiliate schemes of all. A few signals help tell a genuine haul from an advert. A code or link in every caption that gives the creator a commission is the clearest. Identical scripts or phrases across many creators in the same week are another. Posts that praise the agent in general terms but show no QC photos, weights or shipping prices are a third.

None of that means the product is bad. It means the post isn't evidence about the agent. For that, look for what an advert rarely shows: dated order timelines, the final shipping bill, and what happened when something went wrong.
